The short answer

Police Raid Commander is a browser-based 3D operations game about turning intelligence into careful raids. Choose a case, study the file, position Alpha and Bravo squads, then issue room-by-room orders in a live diorama. Dog units, Air One, budgets and public trust raise the stakes. Start with the guided training raid before taking on the 29-case city map.

What is Police Raid Commander?

Police Raid Commander is a released interactive fiction game from frankeez, set in the fictional city of Greyhaven. The player runs special operations for the Greyhaven Constabulary, choosing cases from an interactive city operations map and turning intelligence into a plan. The map holds 29 investigations, including a cannabis farm in a disused warehouse, a weapons stash in a tower-block flat and a container at the docks, alongside trafficking and importation cases. Each operation begins with a case file, and the decision to proceed rests on budget, team readiness and public trust. The game is HTML5, priced at £2.50, and published on 23 October 2026.

A raid moves from paperwork to a 3D briefing and then to a live tactical diorama. Two squads, Alpha and Bravo, and ten named officers with ID cards are available across the career. The tone is procedural: intelligence quality, civilians inside and the time available are weighed before entry. Every case, location, person and organisation in the game is invented, and its lessons are about its own interface rather than authentic police procedure.

How to play

Play starts on the operations map. Opening a case reveals a file with briefing, objectives, intelligence and case record tabs. The planning stage asks for an assessment of how reliable the intelligence is, how many civilians may be present and how much time remains. If the budget permits, more intel can be requested. The 3D briefing then shows the property from outside, in cutaway or in X-ray, including multi-level layouts and daylight, dusk or night lighting. Alpha and Bravo squads are staged at entry points, and each team's way in is selected.

Once the operation begins, the raid plays out in a live 3D diorama. Orders can go to a whole squad or to an individual officer: search a room, communicate, arrest, give medical aid, hold, resume or escort someone to custody. Civilians might be working, cleaning or cooking; neither a job nor its tools should be read as proof of guilt. Every person must be accounted for and evidence preserved. Serious raids can escalate when suspects run for other exits and a getaway vehicle arrives; it can be boxed in or tracked by Air One. Dog units handle detection searches, pursuit and capture.

Each raid closes with a ledger covering the case reward, deployment costs, dog unit, specialists and Air One. A finished case always produces payment, while incomplete results bring only part of the funding. Budget, public trust and team readiness carry over between raids, so a messy success can still shape the next operation.

Controls

The control scheme is mouse-driven. Click a case on the map, then choose OPEN 3D BRIEFING. In the briefing view, drag to orbit, right-drag to pan and scroll to zoom; double-click a room to focus on it. To issue an order, click an officer or portrait, choose a room, then select the instruction. C opens the case file and Esc closes a panel. Panel headers can be dragged to rearrange the command desk.

New players can open TRAINING and start the guided raid. The Training House drills, the 28-step guided raid and the support exercise each use a sandbox that leaves the career untouched. The controls are taught inside the game and reflect its own interface, not real police tactics.

Tips for your first run

Start with TRAINING rather than the city map. The guided raid runs for 28 steps, and its sandbox keeps early mistakes away from the career. The Training House drills and support exercise also sit outside career progress.

  • Request extra intel only when the budget allows, and judge the quality of what is already in the file before staging Alpha and Bravo.
  • Use cutaway and X-ray views to read multi-level buildings before choosing entry points for each squad.
  • Treat a civilian at work as a civilian: a job, cleaning task or cooking tool is not proof of guilt.
  • Use arrest, medical aid and escort orders with care, and keep evidence preservation in view while searching rooms.
  • On serious raids, watch the other exits for suspects and decide early whether to box in a getaway vehicle or call Air One.
  • Match the dog unit to the task: Scout and Raven for detection searches, Atlas for pursuit and capture.

Content and replayability

The 29 investigations cover drug farms, stash flats, trafficking and importation. Cases are opened through floating, movable files with briefing, objectives, intelligence and case record tabs. An encrypted-terminal operations log collects intel, radio, evidence and media feeds, giving each raid a paper trail to read alongside the 3D view.

Replay value comes from the career layer. Rookie rank is the starting point, and bronze, silver, gold and platinum rank medals mark progress. Budget, public trust and team readiness persist between raids, so results shape later options. Follow-up work on wanted people and getaway vehicles add reasons to revisit the tactical layer, while the working police radio carries 90 spoken clips, push-to-talk clicks and static, with separate volume for radio, effects and ambience.

Training House drills, a 28-step guided raid and a support exercise sit in their own sandbox, so practice never touches the career. The career saves in the browser and can be exported or imported for backup or moving to another computer. The game runs fully offline and needs no account.

Presentation and performance

The presentation is built around a live 3D tactical view of every property, with exterior, cutaway and X-ray modes. Multi-level buildings and daylight, dusk or night lighting change how a briefing reads. The diorama continues during the raid, so squad orders play out in the same space that was inspected beforehand. A working police radio adds 90 spoken clips, push-to-talk clicks and static, with separate volume controls for radio, effects and ambience.

For smooth play, use a desktop browser with WebGL2, such as a current Chrome, Edge or Firefox, and run the game fullscreen. A compatibility mode is available for older graphics. The career is stored in the browser, so EXPORT is the backup route and also the way to move progress to another computer. HTML5 delivery keeps play inside the browser.

Who should play it

This suits players who want a measured police operation built around files, intelligence and squad placement. The appeal is in reading a case, judging the quality of what is known, placing Alpha and Bravo, and then managing a live diorama where civilians may be working, cleaning or cooking. The budget, public trust and readiness layer gives each raid consequences beyond the door. The 29-case map and career ranks give a long-term structure.

It is also a good fit for players who like 3D planning tools: exterior, cutaway and X-ray views, multi-level buildings and daylight, dusk or night lighting. Dog units, Air One and getaway vehicles add pressure on serious raids. The game is fully offline and needs no account, and training sandboxes make it approachable for newcomers. It is not a simulation of real police tactics; it teaches its own controls and every case is fictional.

From the developer

You run special operations for the Greyhaven Constabulary. Intelligence comes in from across the city: a cannabis farm in a disused warehouse, a weapons stash in a tower-block flat, a container waiting at the docks. Choose a case, read the file, plan the entry and send your officers through the door. Every decision comes out of your budget, your team's readiness and the public's trust. PLAN Open the case file and weigh how good the intelligence is, how many civilians may be inside and how long you have to act. Request more intel if the budget allows. Then open the 3D briefing: inspect the property from outside, in cutaway or in X-ray, stage Alpha and Bravo squads at the entry points, and choose how each team gets in. COMMAND Commence the operation and watch it unfold in a live 3D diorama of the building. Give orders to a whole squad or to one officer: search a room, communicate, arrest, provide medical aid, hold, resume, escort to…
