The short answer
Battle: Pixel Tactics is a free HTML5 auto-battler about drafting a squad, merging duplicate units, and placing them on an 8x8 board before combat runs itself. Its shop, synergies, elements, items, and economy matter more than reflexes. Play solo, in PvP duels, team modes, free-for-all, or 1-4 player PvE co-op in a browser.
What is Battle: Pixel Tactics?
Battle: Pixel Tactics is a tactical auto-battler presented in hand-crafted pixel art. The match begins with a draft: choose from five shop offers drawn from a roster of 41 units across five tiers, then place the squad on an 8x8 board and let combat resolve without direct fighting input. The result turns on shop choices and positioning, not reflexes.
Each unit brings its own ability, and duplicates matter. Three copies of the same unit fuse into a two-star version, with another fusion reaching three stars. Units also share origins and classes, so fielding enough of a matching group activates bonuses. Ten elements add a strength-and-weakness layer, while eight base item components can be paired into finished items.
The game is free to play in a browser and requires no download. It is built for desktop and mobile, with mobile play in landscape. The interface is currently in Portuguese (pt-BR), with icons, numbers, and the synergy panel carrying much of the information.
How to play
The shop is the first decision point. Each round presents five offers from the 41-unit roster, spread across five tiers. A reroll costs 2 gold; the lock option preserves a deal for the next round. Gold, interest, streaks, and XP feed the economy, and XP purchases raise level so more units can be fielded on the 8x8 board.
Merging is the second decision. Three copies of one unit become a two-star unit, and repeating the fusion produces a three-star unit. Synergies reward shared origins and classes; enough matching units switch on bonuses. The ten-element system decides who has the advantage in combat, so the same squad can perform differently against another lineup. Items come from eight base components; two components combine into a finished item, and the in-game recipe book shows the pairs.
Rounds include PvE creep fights, PvP matches against other players, and special rounds where a reward is chosen. Combat itself is automatic: the squad fights on its own once placement is set. That makes each round a planning test in the shop and on the board rather than a test of reaction speed.
Controls
Play runs in a browser with no download, so the input layer sits inside the HTML5 frame. On mobile, the game is played in landscape. The decisive actions are not twitch commands; they are shop and board decisions made before combat. That means choosing among five offers, rerolling for 2 gold, locking a deal, combining duplicate units, buying XP, and arranging units on the 8x8 grid.
The battle then plays out automatically, and the player watches the result. Because positioning and shop choices carry the round, the useful control vocabulary is selection and placement rather than aiming or movement. The interface is in Portuguese (pt-BR), but icons, numbers, and the synergy panel carry information that helps with unit choice and board setup.
No download step is required, and the game can be installed as a web app. Desktop and mobile landscape are the ways to play.
The game page does not list its controls. Check the in-game tutorial or pause menu for the current scheme.
Tips for your first run
Treat the shop as the main battlefield. A reroll costs 2 gold, so every refresh competes with saving for interest and buying XP. The lock option is useful when a shop offers a unit that is close to a merge, because carrying the deal into the next round can complete a two-star or three-star unit without gambling on a fresh roll.
Track duplicate copies early. Three identical units make the first fusion, and another fusion reaches three-star; a scattered collection delays both. Synergy planning should follow the same logic: enough shared origins and classes activate bonuses, while a pile of unrelated units leaves those bonuses idle. Use the recipe book before committing item components, since pairs produce finished items.
- Lock a shop deal when chasing a third copy for a merge.
- Watch the 2-gold reroll cost against interest and XP purchases.
- Buy XP when the 8x8 board needs more units in play.
- Check origin and class counts before adding another trait.
- Pair base components using the recipe book rather than guessing.
Content and replayability
Battle: Pixel Tactics covers a wide spread of match shapes. The competitive side includes a 1v1 duel, a three-player 1x1x1, 2x2 duos with shared health on a double-wide field, 2x2x2 with three teams of two, and free-for-all rooms for 4 to 8 players. Cooperative play supports 1-4 players against monster waves and a boss, while PvE solo gives a practice space at a personal pace.
Private rooms add a social layer: create a room, share the code or invite link, and the host starts when everyone is ready. The collection page records every unit, and the team planner allows up to three target compositions, shows their synergies, and highlights planned units in the shop during a match.
The roster supports replayability through five tiers, 41 units, origin and class synergies, ten elements, and item combinations from eight components. Special rounds with reward picks break up the PvE and PvP rhythm. Because the game is in development, the mode mix and balance can change, but the current scope already spans solo practice, co-op, duels, team play, and large free-for-alls.
Presentation and performance
The visual identity is hand-crafted pixel art, with units and board states carrying the tactical information. Combat resolves automatically, so the emphasis falls on the 8x8 board, the shop, and the synergy panel rather than on manual animation input. Four screenshots are available for a preview of that look.
The game is an HTML5 browser release with no download, and it can be installed as a web app. Mobile play uses landscape orientation, while desktop play runs in the browser. The interface is currently Portuguese (pt-BR); icons, numbers, and the synergy panel are intended to keep the game playable without fluency in the language, and translations may follow later.
The title is in development. That status matters for expectations: balance, modes, and content can still shift, even though the current build already includes drafting, merging, item recipes, and multiplayer rooms.
Who should play it
This suits players who like auto-battlers and tactical drafting more than reflex-driven action. The core pleasure is reading a shop, deciding whether to reroll or lock, tracking duplicate copies for a two-star or three-star merge, and placing a squad so its origins, classes, and elements line up. The 8x8 board and automatic combat keep the focus on planning.
It also fits groups. Private rooms with codes or invite links make it easy to organize a duel, a 2x2 duo match, a three-team 2x2x2, or a free-for-all for 4 to 8 players. PvE co-op for 1-4 players and solo practice broaden the audience beyond competitive play. The Portuguese interface is the main caveat for non-Portuguese speakers, though icons, numbers, and the synergy panel provide visual support.
